Singlefacer and Doublebacker defects : Washboarding

Washboarding - While Running

It appears that there is an issue with the formation of the Singlefacer or doubleface liner, which can occur more often in light weight liners. This problem could be caused by excessive adhesive application at Single facer and Gluing Machine, leading to an uneven distribution of adhesive on the liner. In such a situation, it is recommended to inspect the condition of the applicator and metering Roll to ensure that the adhesive is applied uniformly, and the parallel of the metering roll is gaped correctly.

Another cause of the problem could be a worn or out of adjustment metering roll wiper blade, which can lead to an inconsistent application of adhesive. Hence, it is advisable to inspect the blade and make the necessary adjustments or replace it if required.

Low adhesive viscosity can also cause flow formation, which can be addressed by increasing solids in the adhesive formula. This would help to achieve the desired viscosity and enable uniform application of the adhesive.

Lastly, it is crucial to regularly check the adhesive viscosity and adjust it if necessary to ensure that the adhesive is applied correctly and uniformly. This would help to prevent any issues with flow formation and ensure that the Singlefacer or doubleface liner is of high quality.
