There are several factors that can have an impact on the quality of a product. One of the most significant is the interaction between the product and its packaging. Other factors that can influence product quality include the level of humidity in the environment, the amount of time that has elapsed since the product was packaged, stacking misalignment during storage, pallet overhang, and the conditions of transportation. To ensure accurate assessment of these factors, safety factors and retention analysis are commonly used. By accounting for these factors, it is possible to maintain the integrity of the product throughout its entire lifecycle.Depends on:

• Type of package
• Mode of transportation
• Static warehouse
• Dynamic vehicle
Assurance Levels:
• The levels are determined based on• The product value,
• The desired level of anticipated damage that can be tolerated,
• The number of units shipped,
• The knowledge of the shipping environment, or
• other criteria
ASTM Assurance Levels:
• Level 1 – Low probability, High intensity events (more severe than Level 2)• Level 2 – (Commonly used)
• Level 3 – High probability, low intensity events (less severe than level 2)

Let's say you conduct a compression test on a corrugated box package without any rigid internal supports under standard conditions in the lab, and obtain a compression strength value of 800 lbs.
