Singlefacer and Doublebacker defects : Wet Board

Wet Board - While Running

After going through the hot plate, you may notice that your board has excess moisture. This can be caused by several factors, including:

Causes:
- Insufficient heat on the double backer hot plate.
- Low steam pressure in the gluing machine or double backer.
- A wet liner.
- A low gell point in the gum formula.
- A worn corrugating roll.

In order to address this issue, you can try implementing the following remedies:

Remedies:
- Increase the heat transfer on the hot plate by adjusting the temperature of the heating element or checking for any blockages in the heating system.
- Check the boiler pressure, steam traps, and bypass wall to ensure that steam pressure is optimal. If there are any issues, fix them right away.
- Increase heat to the liner by adjusting the preheater wrap speed.
- Check the gum formula to ensure that the gell point is within the optimal range.
- Inspect the corrugating roll for any signs of wear and replace it if necessary.

It's important to address this issue promptly, as excess moisture in the board can lead to poor box quality, delamination, and reduced strength. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to let me know.
